Burleigh Heads

3 Dec 2014

Last weekend I organised a trip to Burleigh Heads with a group of close friends as a graduation celebration. Ohhh how I miss this place already! For those who have known Brisbane as 'Brisboring' for a while and have not yet visited this place? YOU NEED TO GO. And for those who aren't from Brisbane and are wondering where would be nice to visit, Burleigh Heads is the place to be. Not a big fan of beaches? Well, I can assure you it is still worth a visit! Perfect place to appreciate mother nature's creations and, life itself. It's about an hour drive from Brisbane towards the Gold coast (Find the map here). I discovered this place with my family a few years back, when we noticed there was a mysterious trail heading up into a cute little mountain. Once you start the trail, it's a beautiful journey around the mountain overlooking the ocean and the waves crashing into the rocks below.
You'll even see a few surfers hitting up the waves! Every few meters you'll find a track that over time, people have made to access parts of the rocky shores. There really are no limits to being adventurous here, but it's always smart to be safe.

The mysterious trail takes you up on the mountain where you'll experience a breathtaking view of the horizon and jungle-like scenery. The walk through always makes me think of who lived there centuries ago as I'd find strange stairs leading to nowhere....(Cue creepy music). After a good 20 minutes the trail will lead you back down the mountain where the most beautiful part of the place is.... the cove. The cove is heaven. What I love about it most is that you could relax in the mother nature made pools near the shore once the tide dies down, or, take a walk further down into the water (where there are little fishes accompanying you) and hit some waves!

There are nice shady spots available (if your lucky) and wide spaces on the sand where you can base camp! It was just amazing chilling and eating good food with good company. I recommend that you bring your own food (and probably go to the toilet) before heading to the cove as it is a lengthy walk back to restaurants and take away joints. There's loads of 'hip' food places around the main beach area and your not too far from shopping centres. What's another bonus is that 15 minutes away down the highway, is the good ol' Gold coast! Another get-away-from-brisboring destination. When got to the Gold coast, we went straight to Zarraffas and got our coffee/sugar hit. We then headed to the Time Zone arcade and had about 2 hours worth of unlimited arcade games (sooooo fun and soooo worth it). The coffee definitely helped me stay awake. After that, with our worn out bodies and starved stomachs, we headed to Vapianos; and this place is another place I must review! Buttt back to Burleigh heads - my words cannot describe this place, you just need to experience it yourself!

P.S. I am yet to walk right up the mountain, like this lady did here sitting fearlessly on the rock *gulp*:

...and If your having a bad day, just think of this place:

Spread the love everyone, that's all from me for now!
