This summer's top picks for beauty are all about hydration! I tend to have trouble finding products that suit my all over skin type, and that's including my lips! My skin type can be from dry to combination depending on the weather. My lips however are just super dry and can be hard to maintain. Here I'll talk about the pros for each pick and all of you readers can see if its right for you! Keep a look out as I will be doing full reviews on some of these products. All three products can be found in your local drug stores or major retailers, but I have included links you can purchase each from!
1. Garnier BB cream (oily skin)
Benefits:
- Matte look
- Buildable coverage
- Moisturizing
- All-in-one corrector
- Long lasting
I know, weird. I mentioned early that I have dry skin, yet I'm using a BB cream for oily skin. Well funny enough I've tried Garnier's BB cream for dry skin when it first came out, I can say it wasn't bad but I find the setting and coverage for the oily skin BB cream is more flawless and blendable on my skin. I use this on top of my moisturiser and it's great for everyday use The coverage is light to medium and buildable if you let it set for a few seconds after each layer. The feel of it is very light weight, non greasy and lasts fairly well throughout the day. Great for Brisbane's humid summer! It comes in light/medium and medium/dark.
2. Ultra 3 Matte lipstick
Benefits:
- Matte
- Full colour
- Moisturising
- Good value low price
These lipsticks are what I have been using for the past two seasons. Soo cheap but sooo good! So far the only mix that hasn't dried out my lips! No need for lip balm or after gloss because these babies are pretty moisturising on my own lips. It is different for everyone though! My lips are the type for be very chappy when I actually put anything very wet like lip gloss or lip balm - It's so annoying. With the matte formula, my lips don't crack and the colour as well as moisture lasts quite long. It isn't your loreal infallible so it will rub off eventually, but still does a good job for such a cheap price. I use 'Brown Sugar' for day wear; a nice brown based pink nude great for a fresh look. For work I wear 'Rose Bloom' which is a darker brown based mauve; balancing it off with a bronze/brown shadow and liner! And my last two favourite colours are 'Plum Velvet' and 'Winter Plum' which are my evening lippies! They have loads of other colours!
3. Bourjois Paris Healthy Balance Pressed powder
Benefits:
- Hydrating
- Anti shine
- Buildable coverage
- Long lasting
I find this pressed powder works best over my bb creams or liquid foundations. The packaging states that it is hydrating and anti-shine using asian fruit therapy. Well, I have been using this powder for over a good 3 years now and nothing else has worked on my skin as effectively. As I said my skin is dry, especially around my nose; which becomes flaky with too much drying product in the area. I've found that the Healthy Balance powder sustains the moisture in my bb cream or foundation, rather than drying it out. The best thing is that it maintains a matte look all day! You could use it on its own if you just need a quick fresh fix up; it's quite buildable with a powder pad in comparison with a powder brush. It's light weight which also supports that natural feel (what we all really look for with make up). Another thing, I have never had any skin problems or break outs with this powder, so the Healthy Balance establishment really fulfils its role. It comes in four colours that all quite have a yellow undertone which is perfect for many skin tones.
Keep watch for our next batch of top picks!
Much love,
